The Rio Red grapefruit is a premier, Texas-developed citrus known for its exceptionally deep red, juicy, and sweet-tart flesh, containing 7-10 times more pigment than earlier Ruby Reds. It is highly prized for having low bitterness  and high vitamin C, making it a popular, nearly seedless, and nutritious choice for fresh eating and juicing. 
They are named "grapefruit" because they grow in bunches on the tree, similar to grapes.
