WHITE AGAPANTHUS / LILY OF THE NILE - Agapanthus Praecox - 20 Seeds

R 14

The white Agapanthus, often called the "African Lily" or "Lily of the Nile," is a hardy perennial known for its striking clusters of bell-shaped flowers and lush, strap-like foliage.

Native to Southern Africa, particularly the winter rainfall regions.    Features large, rounded flower heads (umbels) on tall stems that can reach up to 1.52 metres.

Ideal for borders, mass plantings, and coastal gardens as they are resistant to salt spray and strong winds.    Their long stems and 10-day vase life make them excellent cut flowers.

In Southern Africa, they are used in rituals for fertility and to treat heart disease, coughs, and swelling.

The "Love" Flower: Its name comes from the Greek words agape (love) and anthos (flower).

An Agapanthus wreath reportedly adorned Queen Victoria's casket.

Xhosa women traditionally wore necklaces made from the roots to ensure healthy, strong babies.
